AYUTTHAYA (Day 11 - part 3)

We returned to the dock where T was waiting for us. Thick green plants floated everywhere in clumps.

We then stopped at Wat Phutthaisawan (Monastery of Buddhist Kingship). It was built in 1353. Our boat driver gave us 30 minutes to wander around.

Rows of sparkling Buddhas

Back on boat, made our way to the next wat.

St. Joseph Catholic Church has been a place of continuous Catholic worship in Thailand for over 300 years.

Wat Chai Wattanaram (Temple of long reign and glorious era) was constructed in 1630 by King Prasat Thong as the first temple of his reign.

Eight towers surround the main prang.

We were allowed to climb up as long as we took off our shoes. It was quite steep!

The view from the prang

We arrived back at our starting dock and walked to the ferry.

From there, we went to the train station. It was standing room only. In spite of that, drink sellers pushed their ways up and back through the crowds.

Back in Bangkok, we took the metro back to grab some food and then to the hotel.
