BANGKOK (Day 9 - part 2)

We grabbed some fruit at the market (such as salak, dragonfruit, tamarind, mangosteen) then had some lunch at a riverside restaurant.

We were hoping to visit the Royal Barge Museum but we couldn't get a straight answer out of the ferry people and we didn't want to hire a water taxi. So instead we went to Wat Arun, or Wat Arun Ratchawararam Woramahawiharn... Temple of the Dawn.

It gets its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often depicted as the rays of the rising sun. Although a temple had been here since the 1600s, its distinctive spries (prang) were added by King Rama II in the early 1800s.

We walked around the complex for a while.

These giant guards protect the temple.

We took the ferry back to the sky train and made our way back to the hotel.
