INDONESIA (Bali)

DAY 17

On the long drive back to Ubud, we stopped at Gitgit waterfall. It would have been pretty if the hills hadn’t been obscured by selling stands and vendors yelling "cold drink" at you or shoving some piece of woodwork in your face.

We continued higher up the volcano to the Bedugul botanical garden. We had just entered when it began to drizzle.... then it began to rain. By the time we made it to some shelter under some trees, it was pouring. But the downpour didn’t stop and eventually the shelter of the trees did. So in a last desperate attempt, we put our sarongs over our heads and raced to the nearest man-made shelter. After quite a wait, we eventually headed out to get a quick look at the garden (we were already soaked anyway).

We continued our drive under dry weather but that soon changed. We were forced to pull over due to an exceedingly heavy downpour. We finally checked soaking wet into our old bungalow hotel in Ubud.

That evening we once again submerged ourselves in cultural pleasures and took in a Legong dance.
