CALDWELL (Day 6 - part 5)
An unexpected exhibit of items from Japan:
The teacup, when held up to the light, revealed a hidden pattern.
Weaving and spinning:
A quick demonstration using "hand cards" to process wool
A table of music boxes:
The very first music box was crafted by a watch maker from Geneva in 1796.
We drove back out to the Sunnyslope Wine region for some more wine tasting. Our first stop was Hat Ranch Winery & Vineyard. They have been making wines exclusively from Idaho-grown grapes since 2011.
In honor of winery's name, each post had a hat on it.
We got to sample a dry Moscato, a Rose, a Pinot Noir, a Syrah and a Tempranillo.
Before we did any more tastings, it was decided that a good lunch at the Orchard House (it had been recommended to us) was in order.
Every square inch of space was filled with something interesting!
We learned about "fry sauce" (mayonnaise and ketchup mixed together), which was indeed very delicious!
A display of (real) pastries ... and also some Idaho Spuds! We bought two for later.
Next was a stop at Koenig Vineyards. Founded in 1995, they grow about 10 acres of grapes.
For me, the best one was the oak-aged Riesling ice wine! Sean seems to have enjoyed it as well.
We couldn't leave without first climbing the tower for spectacular views.
