REYKJAVIK (Day 1)
We arrived at the airport in Keflavik. It was windy, cold and rainy (soon to be a major theme of the trip). We took a bus to Reykjavik where we checked in a guesthouse with sleeping bag accommodations.

We then wandered around the charming city and visited Hallgrimskirka (a church made of columns of grey volcanic basalt rock; unfortunately it closed a few minutes before we arrived), some important buildings such as the House of Parlaiment, the harbor and the main shopping street.

We grabbed some dinner in town then fought the weather back to the guesthouse. Fortunately the room had a heater!
