DRIVE (Day 12 - part 1)

Today, as we headed from Flagstaff (AZ) to Moab (UT), we would be spending much of our time driving through the western and northern sides of the Navajo Reservation.

In Tuba City, we grabbed a late breakfast at Denny's.

Horses ... and dogs herding sheep

The Monument Valley spills from northern Arizona into southern Utah. Sandstone towers reach heights of 1,000 feet and have been being carved over the last 50 million years.

A dust devil forms in front of the car ahead of us then jumps to the side of the road, gathering strength.

It slowly moves away.

Just over the border, we stopped in the Welcome Center. It was absolutely packed with interesting history but we still had a long drive ahead of us and couldn't stay long.
