SEAWORLD (Day 9 - part 8)

We arrived right at walrus feeding time...

Walruses are one of the largest members of the pinniped family which include all seals, sea lions and walruses. They live in the Arctic Sea and feed mostly on clams, but also enjoy sea snails, sea cucumbers, squid and crab.

This must be Dozer with his big tusks.

A deeper portion of the walrus enclosure

The underwater viewing areas for the harbor seals and the belugas

The large lump at the front of the head houses an echolocation organ, allowing the whale to move about and find breathing holes under sheet ice.

We each got a fake kiss from a poster!

Journey to Atlantis had been closed this morning but it appeared to be open again. There was the risk of getting a bit wet but we felt it was worth it.

The combination rollercoaster and splashdown ride was built in 2004 by Mack Rides, a German company that designs and constructs amusement rides. It reaches a height of 95 feet and hits a maximum speed of 42 miles per hour. Just when you think the ride is over, a wobbly-feeling elevator (the tower on the left) brings you back to the top for some more... including the final water drop.

There wasn't a very long line.

A massive tank was part of the entry display.

We defintely got wet, but not enough to need the dryers!

The park had two big rollercoasters, but they both just seemed a BIT too much!

The Electric Eel ...

.. and the Emperor

This seagull wasn't impressed though.

The moray eel exhibit

Tentacle Twirl opened in 2017. We gave it a whirl!
