The morning started out with an amazing hotel breakfast!
Hot foods such as omelets and potatoes
We bundled up in every single piece of warm clothing we had with us and headed down to the Quivira Point marina. We were scheduled for an 8 am whale watching tour. We met Tom, our guide and captain, and boarded the small boat with three other tourists.

Tom indicates where we're headed.
Note the tiny icon of our boat (lower center)
A pair of cormorants and a seagull

Leaving the protected harbor ...
... for the open sea.
A sea lion keeps an eye on us.
A pod of playful dolphins! Unfortunately I don't know what type they were since this is home to several dolphin species, including the Common dolphin, Bottlenose dolphin, Risso's dolphin and Pacific White Sided dolphin.
Making a splash!
(right) Ooooh, a backflip!
The dolphins moved closer and closer until eventually they were swimming off the bow of the boat.
