SAN DIEGO SAFARI (Day 6 - part 5)

On our way to the tram, we passed the viewing window into the lion camp.

Wow! So close!

The lions seemed to take a bit TOO much interest in people.

Originally, a monorail ran around the park. In 2007, the Africa Tram opened. Running on biofuel, it takes visitors through the different sections of Africa.

Greater Flamingos

A separate rhino enclosure

Wait... these look like pelicans. Why is there a large (fake) carcass in there with them?

Great White Pelicans

Aha... because there is more than one resident in this area! A Lappet-faced Vulture!

Springboks ... Sable Antelopes

Gemsbok or South African Oryx

Even though some of the sections were fenced off into smaller areas, everything looked more like wilderness than a cage.
