We returned back to the main road and continued our journey, with short stops at P1 and P2, and short walks at P3 and White Domes Loop.
P1
A blooming yucca
P2
This massive chunk of sandstone was once a huge expanse of sand dunes laid down during the age of the dinosaurs. Erosion has revealed the various layers and patterns. The color differences are caused by the presence (red) or absence (beige) of iron oxide in the rock. Cross-bedding shows the depositional patterns of the original sand grains.

A stroll at P3...
Colors and textures
The White Domes Trail was only a 1.25-mile loop, but the temperatures were getting quite toasty so we didn't go very far at all.
Another yucca
We retraced our path along the White Domes Road back to its beginning.
