SALT LAKE CITY (Day 7 - part 3)

We stumbled into the City Creek Center. This lovely two-story indoor and outdoor mall covered a full two square blocks. The CCC opened to the public in 2012.

A replica of City Creek ran through the center.

(right) A skybridge connects the two upper floors of the shopping center across Main Street. It weighs 320,000 pounds and includes roof panels that can be opened.

Crossing the pedestrian skybridge to the next block .... Artwork frosted some of the windows.

Stream of Life is a 2012 bronze sculpture that commemorates the state's wildlife. Included are the official state animals plus others that can be found in a riparian habitat.

A waterfall

We grabbed some lunch in the large food court. I got some 'loaded Greek fries' (regular and waffle fries topped with feta, green peppers, tomatoes, red onion, falafel, fry sauce and hummus).

Exiting the mall

We slowly wandered our way back to the car, passing many interesting buildings.

... fake pigeons!

We then hit the road and headed south to Provo.

The massive 16-story (165-foot-tall), four-legged, 200-ton steel stage was built in 2009 for the Irish band U2. It was one of three stages built for their two-year-long "360-degree Tour". After traveling the world, the Claw (now known as the Ecosystem Exploration Craft & Observatory or EECO) eventually found a home in 2019 outside of the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.

We arrived at our motel in Provo and checked in.
