OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK (Day 17)

I left Ric's early in the morning and made my way in the pouring rain to the Sol Duc campground in Olympic National Park. It was an ordeal setting up the tent and I was quite wet by the end of it!

In spite of the weather, I decided to take a walk down to the waterfall.

So which spelling is it? Before 1992 the accepted spelling was Soleduck, after which it was officially changed by the State of Washington Board on Geographic Names. It comes from its Quileute name meaning "sparkling waters".

Squish, squish, squishing along

The 50-foot Sol Duc Falls

I took Lovers Lane Trail back along the other side of the river up to the resort.

The resort pool

I mucked my way back to camp while it proceeded to rain into the evening.
