VOLKSWALK (Day 14)

We drove up to Hansville to do a volkswalk. Ric was a member and had been doing these for years.

Volkswalking is a form of fitness walking that developed in Europe. Routes are organized by a club (in this case by the American Volkssport Association) with start/end locations and maps if needed, and are generally around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) long. Our walk today would take us from Hansville, down to the Point No Point Lighthouse, over to Buck Lake County Park and through the Hansville Greenway.

The lighthouse

Zillions of seagulls

An old dock... and enormous driftwood!

Buck Lake... and an overlook platform

Things got quite muddy at the end!

We made it back to the car just as it started pouring!

In spite of the weather, we stopped at Heronswood Gardens on the way back down. The gardens were established by Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones in 1987 on a 15-acre site.

The rain continued to fall... undoubtably much to the dismay of this poor, drenched bee!

The continued rain made for a shorter day. We returned home, had some lunch and I did some much-needed laundry.

Might makes right!
