Continuing along the Skyline Trail...

A redwood cone ... and young tree

Beautiful bark

Walking along the Redwood Trail...

Haha! I love how a T-Rex is used for scale, since obviously that's something we can all personally relate to!

Mother of the Forest

Andrew Putnam Hill (1853 - 1922) was a painter and photographer whose efforts helped create this park.

On the right, acorn woodpeckers depend mostly on acorns for food. They will drill holes into trees above the snow line so they can retrieve stored food during winter. They also eat insects, sap and fruit.

On the right, the Father of the Forest has a ground circumference of 66 feet and 9 inches and a height of 250 feet.

We left the redwoods and made our way northeast to San Jose.

We stopped at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, but it was closed. So we just walked briefly around the gardens as the light of the day began to fade.

Our final stop of the day was at Floodcraft Brewing Company.

It was a wet drive up to Vallejo.
